River City Extension and Max Bemis of Say Anything were stripped down to their strings last night for a sold out acoustic performance at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. River City Extension’s frontman Joe Michelini (guitar, vocals), was backed by only two of the usual seven members of his ensemble; multi-instrumentalist Jenn Fantaccione with only her cello and guitar in tow, (she’s known to pick up brass as well), and drummer Mike Costaney on a kit.

Jersey City's Rye Coalition were a sonic force to be reckoned with Saturday night, at Maxwell's in Hoboken. The sold-out crowd wasn't just warmed up, but rather fired up, when Louisiana's blues based, Guitar Lightnin Lee and his Thunder Band, smoked the stage. By the time Rye Coalition hit their first note, Maxwell's was so packed that it was as hot as a show in July. This was the first time the band has played live in 5 years, and it was clear to see they did not dissappoint.

Gentleman Theives have released their debut album The Price of Silence. The South Amboy group's full-length release is currently available via all major online retailers (itunes link). You can check out a track titled "99" off the 11 song effort. GT are set to play New Brunswick's The Court Tavern this Friday along with Go Falcon!, Colony and The Grifters. More info on that event can be found here. A bit about the release can be found below.
On their new full length "The Price of Silence", Gentleman Thieves have written a rock album rooted in the underground and polished with solid songwriting. The band spent over a year writing, rewriting, and constantly challenging themselves to balance their influences. The shades of punk and hardcore are still there, but they serve as a foundation for nods to 60s rock, 80s post-punk, and modern indie.
