In a recent interview with NME, Strokes bassist, Nikolai Fraiture revealed that the NYC group's long awaited 4th studio album will most likely see a release this March. Nikolai said ""Sonically, I feel it's the album which should have been made between Room On Fire and First Impressions Of Earth," he said, adding that the album echoes the band's "classic sound"." The indie-rock quintet started playing shows again for the first time in years this past Summer, but have yet to make a public (played private Fashion Week party) NYC appearance. The Strokes upcoming LP is currently in the mixing stages and has yet to be titled. We'll let you know when the new album has an official release date. More can be read over at NME. Video of The Strokes performing at 2010's Austin City Limits can be found below. In a recent interview with MTV News, Vampire Weekend revealed that they have already started writing for their new record. To paraphrase Ezra, even though VP haven't actually recorded anything yet they have been writing and ideas are floating around. However, Koenig did mention that they will most likely need some time off after their tour cycle for Contra ends.
So you might be wondering what type of "ideas are floating around"? Well, as of late, the ivy league quartet apparently have a slight fixation on failed big-budget comedies. Koenig name checks The Love Guru, The Rocker and the exception, Bride Wars. Ezra goes on to say "Any time you interact with a piece of art — whether it's something that goes on to be your favorite or something that maybe you find issue with — still, that's going to help you think about the art you want to make." Feel free to read full interview over at MTV.

Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 7:49 AM Trophy Scars have debuted their new music video for "Darkness" over at Absolutepunk. You can also watch it above. The song comes from their latest EP Darkness, Oh Hell, which is available for you to stream in full over at AltPress. Once you have decided that you need to have the EP, you can go ahead and download it here. Synopsis of the video can be found below.
The video portrays one long, frustrating night in New York City in which a man is robbed after a romantic affair. He struggles to make it back to his apartment without his keys, wallet, or cellphone. To add to the chaos and confusion of the night, he encounters some very peculiar (and sometimes hostile) characters along the way. The man barely makes it back, only by using a neighbor's fire escape to get to his apartment window. The video was shot and directed by up-and-coming filmmaker, Joshua Z Weinstein, whose recent credits include Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones documentary, Shine a Light.

The legendary NJ rock group, Feelies have been quietly working on a new album. A record that will be their first since 1991's Time For A Witness. The band has reportedly finished basic tracks for the new LP at Hoboken's Water Music. Sean Kelly engineered and Bill Million and Glenn Mercer are producing. The album is expected to come out this Spring on Bar/None.
Formed in Haledon NJ in 1976, The Feelies released 4 albums- including
their critically acclaimed and influential debut "Crazy Rhythms," which was
voted 49 in the top 100 albums of the 1980s by Rolling Stone magazine and
chosen by Spin Magazine as 49 of the best alternative records of all time.
The twin-guitar attack of songwriters and founders Glenn Mercer and Bill
Million is the infectious sound of the group. Paired with driving drums and
percussion, it has left an indelible mark on the landscape of rock and roll.
We caught a Feelies performance at Maxwell's back in July 2009. If you haven't seen our coverage yet check it out here.

Trophy Scars is a band known for their intimate performances and strong DIY sense. The band is set to release their first of two EPs, Darkness Oh Hell, next week. Vocalist Jerry Jones spoke about the new release and what's to come with the second EP.
1) The band is set to release the first of two EPs, Darkness Oh Hell, this month. What was the reason behind releasing two EPs back to back?
It was actually an afterthought. We didn’t have any intentions of releasing a “sequel” EP until we completed the recording forDarkness. We were going to release an acoustic EP of sorts and then write a full-length, but then John Ferrara (guitarist) bought his first Strat and starting writing all these happy little songs that really contrasted Darkness. After a month or so, we had six songs pretty much ready to go. We started recording demos immediately. We thought the collection of songs was a nice counter piece to Darkness.
