Bands on a Budget & Cowerks kick off their concert series

A few weeks ago Bands On A Budget announced that they would be partnering with Cowerks Workspace to start hosting shows in their Asbury Park office. Last Friday the workspace held it's 3rd concert to date. The show included Those Mockingbirds, Walking With Cavemen and Blackbirds. The Star-Ledger's Jim Testa did a write up about the event, where he talks with the people behind Bands On A Budge as well as the bands that performed. Be sure to check out the article here. Excerpt below.

“Our business is bands, and they’re always inviting us out to their shows, but we work a lot of nights and it’s hard for us to get out,” said Croak. “So instead it’s nice that we can say, why don’t you just come and play here?”

One might wonder why a band would want to want to spend their Friday night playing a free show instead of looking for a more lucrative gig, but singer-violinist Tory Daines of Those Mockingbirds said she couldn’t imagine a better way to spend her time. [NJ.com]
