In rather awesome news, a festival that goes by the name Music Fest 2011, which probably doesn't have any relation to the other NJ festival named MusicFest 2011, has announced its lineup. The event is set to be headlined by indie-rock stalwarts The Walkmen.

Hoboken's 2011 St. Patrick's Day took place this past Saturday. The annual celebration, which features a parade, tons of house parties and packed bars is also often associated with an obscene amount of petty (and not so petty) crime violations.

All local musicians should get to the Mile Square City this weekend for Hoboken's Holiday Craft Show. Can't make it this weekend? Don't fret, you also will have the chance to perform and sell your CD's on the weekend of December 18th. For all of the details on the multi-day event be sure to read Jim Testa's full article over at NJ.com. Excerpt below.
"There's one simple message to everything I do," says Jennifer Lampert. "Shut up and listen!"
She's joking, of course; at least a little bit. An accomplished singer, teacher, music director of Hoboken's St. Ann's Church, and community activist, Lampert's real mission in life has been to unite local musicians with the community - and vice versa. A Weehawken resident and sometime real estate broker, Lampert owns and runs A Music Space, a small storefront on Hoboken's bustling west side that serves as a music school, rehearsal space, and occasional concert venue. It seems she's always coming up with new ways to bring local music to the people in her neighborhood, and her latest project involves this weekend's Holiday Craft Show in Hoboken. [Jim Testa]
Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 2:05 PM Yo La Tengo kicks off their 8 night Hanukkah run at Hoboken's Maxwell's tonight. Think you might want to check it out? Well, if you don't have a ticket already you're out of luck, as all 8 dates sold out almost instantly back in September. Then again you could always go the Craigslist route. Don't forget you can also catch them in Philadelphia during their insanely awesome concept tour come the new year.
Once again, many special guest appearances and cameos are expected during their run at Maxwell's. Feeling shitty you won't be able to catch Yo La Tengo this year? You can at least check out some videos of Yo La Tengo's best Maxwell's residency moments below. Alex Chilton (R.I.P.) performing Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" with Yo La Tengo back in 07' can be seen above. Hopefully that helps.

Fresh off their signing with Doghouse Records, the band is in the middle of a short east coast trek that sees them share the bill with bands like Weatherstar and Cartel. The label the band now calls their own is best known for being the early home to such bands as The All-American Rejects, The Get Up Kids, Motion City Soundtrack and Say Anything.
This leg of the tour hit Maxwell’s, which looks like your standard Hoboken bar and grill until you walk into the back and discover a 200 person capacity music venue. Having only 2 bands on the bill was a very good idea for a school night, and Weatherstar took the stage just before 9pm. This New York City band has released two EPs in the past few months and the short set list reflected this lack of material. While on stage, lead singer Cameron Walker, sounded very similar to Andrew McMahon with his soaring yet gentle vocals. Weatherstar brought their up-tempo attitude and quality musicianship to create a refined pop-punk sound. Although it was quite short, the 20 minute set proved memorable and saw the half capacity crowd shuffle to the front by the end.
