Thanks to Weathervan Music, Big Troubles recently headed into the Miner Street Recordings studios in Philadelphia for what might have been their first proper recording session. The result was "Phantom", a 2.5 minute early 90s-esque track, which brings out the group's impressive songwriting

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart headlined a hometown show at NYC's Webster Hall this past Friday, May 6th. The indie-pop group were joined by Brooklyn's Twin Shadow and NJ's Big Troubles. Our photographer Kenny Shin was there to grab some great photos of the event. You can check those out over in our photo gallery.

Ducktails, Julian Lynch and Big Troubles will head out on a European tour together starting at the end of May. That's not before Real Estate, Julian Lynch, Big Troubles and Family Portrait play Hoboken's Maxwell's on Saturday, May 21st
Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1:24 AM Big Troubles have quitely made the new video for their song "Georgia" available for your viewing pleasure. The trippy four minute montage was directed by Alexander Lezzi and can be viewed above. The track is off the Ridgewood group's debut LP Worry, which dropped this past September via Olde English Spelling Bee. The album made our Staff's Best of 2010 list. That means you should pick it up! You can do so here or stream it here first.
Sort of surprisingly, MTV Brazil has taken a liking to the NJ lo-fi group. Also, don't forget Lou Reed loves them too. Big Troubles have a bunch of big area shows coming up. These include opening slots for Les Savy Fav, The Pains of Being Pure at Heat and Twin Shadow. The group is also set to hit Europe with fellow Jersey natives, Ducktails and Julian Lynch this June. All of BT's upcoming dates can be found below.

Big Troubles are set to play a free show with their Ridgewood friends Real Estate this Sunday at Williamsburg's Brooklyn Bowl. The special show, which is being presented by Brooklyn Brewery, is set to kick off at 8PM (doors at 6PM). The event will also include art from Eastern District and free chips & salsa from Brooklyn Salsa Company. Epic win!
In other Big Troubles news. The Ridgewood lofi group's song "Georgia" was recently included in Lou Reed's Sirus Radio show. Proof here! Big Troubles put out their debut LP Worry this past August. The very solid record may or may not be appearing on my Best of 2010 list ;) If you haven't yet be sure to stream the entire LP over at their Bandcamp. Download their song "Slouch" below.
Monday, November 8, 2010 at 8:24 PM Big Troubles are yet another band to participate in the Kidrockers series, which takes place at the Lower East Side's The Living Room. The show, which also included Eternal Summer took place October 25th. You can check out a couple photos from the show here. The Ridgewood lo-fi shoegaze band recently put out a very impressive debut LP, Worry, which can be picked up here. Check out their label, Olde English Spelling Bee's hilarous 'press release' on "The New Big Troubles aka The Ridgewood Bashers" here. Excerpt below.
Yes, band shake-ups are fairly common -- "nothing lasts forever" -- yadda yadda -- but it is rare that an indie rock band reaching the top of their game has an implosion/resurrection this bizarre. In fact it is highly doubtful that Big Troubles (re-christened "The New Big Troubles") will even be allowed to play most of their usual venues because of liquor laws. So it's back to their origins -- suburban garages and root beer parties in rec-rooms. Expect their chops to develop quickly and make no mistake about this -- The New Big Troubles definitely mean business. [OESB]

Big Troubles is another band coming out of the Ridgewood scene. The lo-fi pop group recently released their debut LP titled Worry via Olde English Spelling Bee.
