New Bob Marley (family supported) documentary hits theaters this April

The rights for the first ever Marley family supported documentary on the legendary Jamaican musician have been purchased by Magnolia Pictures. The film will hit theaters and select digital outlets on April 20th. It premieres at the Berlin film festival just before then. According to Billboard, the new Bob Marley doc will also at some point air on VH1. More info below.

Kevin Macdonald directed the project, which makes use of rare footage, archival photos, performances and interviews with family, friends and bandmates. The film's North American premiere will take place at the SXSW Film Festival in March. [Jay A. Fernandez]
