Listen: The Decemberists & the Chieftains - "When The Ships Come In"

As previously reported, Celtic folk group the Chieftains are celebrating their 50th anniversary with an album of collaborations. A couple of weeks ago they released “Down in the Willow Garden”, their collaboration with Bon Iver, and now they’ve done the same for their team-up with the Decemberists. Colin Meloy and crew join the Chieftains for a nostalgic cover of Bob Dylan’s “When the Ship Comes In” from The Times They Are a-Changin’. Just like Bon Iver, the Portland band’s folk sound fits right in with the Irish legends.

The album, Voice of Ages, includes other collaborations with “like-minded musical visionaries and kindred spirits” of the Chieftains. Voice of Ages comes out February 21 via Hear/Concord. Listen to “When the Ship Comes In” over at Rolling Stone.
