Kanye West planning a new short film

Hip-hop's wildcard Kanye West apparently has a new short film in the works. Ye made his directorial debut back in 2010 with the half-hour film Runaway, revolving around the song of the same title from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

No word yet as to whether the new project is another extended music video of sorts or more of a straightforward short. What is known, however, is that filming will begin in March somewhere in the Middle East.

The Observer reports that "the story—plot details of which were not divulged by one source ‘out of respect for Kanye’s ambition—was conceived by the rapper explicitly to take place in the Gulf. He is said to have fallen in love with the region after a concert performance last year in Abu Dhabi … Mr. West’s creative team is moving to the region for a few weeks, as part of an effort to create an ‘authentic’ depiction of the culture".
