Alt-country royal Will Oldham (aka Bonnie “Prince” Billy) has quite a lot on his plate. Firstly, Oldham is making his literary debut with Will Oldham on Bonnie “Prince” Billy, out April 5 via Faber & Faber. The book is a collection of conversations between Oldham and minimalist composer Alan Licht. Will Oldham on Bonnie “Prince” Billy will, unfortunately, only be available in the UK and online.
The book will be available in paperback, hardback, or as a part of a box set alongside two 10” EPs. The Steve Albini-produced EPs will feature the backing band from Wolfroy Goes to Town, Oldham’s latest album, which came out back in October via Drag City. Oldham’s band, which includes Emmett Kelly and Angel Olsen, will do various songs from the Palace Brothers/Palace Songs/Palace Music/Will Oldham/Bonnie “Prince” Billy catalog.
Bonnie “Prince” Billy also just finished working on a new 10” of the tracks “I Am a Floozy” and “Remember the Terror Time”. That EP accompanies a book of Ashley Macomber’s paintings and went on sale yesterday via Black Tent Press.
If that wasn’t enough, Billy is also putting together the single for the Wolfroy track “Time to Be Clear” (below). The 7” is backed by “Whipped” and “Out-Of-Mind” and is due out February 28 via Drag City.
Finally, Oldham and California mandolinist Mariee Sioux have put together an EP. Bonnie & Mariee is already out digitally and will be physically available March 6 via Spiritual Pajamas.
