Listen: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - "Wheels Of Fire" (L.A. Guns cover)

A couple of months back Stephen Malkmus announced that he and the Jicks were working on a split 7” with 80s glam-metal crew L.A. Guns. The unlikely pair first crossed paths a few months prior when Malkmus and the Jicks almost named their fifth LP L.A. Guns instead of Mirror Traffic.
Now the split EP is actually already out as a part of Matador’s “Singles Going Home Alone” series. Somehow both tracks managed to stay off the internet for a little while, though. Now, as Stereogum points out, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks’ cover of L.A. Guns “Wheels Of Fire” has surfaced. Canadian radio station CJSR recently played the song on their obnoxiously titled “Makin’ Whoopee” program. Listen to the broadcast over at the Makin’ Whoopee site (“Wheels Of Fire” comes in at 1:48:10) and check out the L.A. Guns original below.
