Listen: The Kills - "Pale Blue Eyes" (The Velvet Underground cover)

Just a few days after celebrating their 10th anniversary, garage rock duo The Kills have put out some new material. The Kills’ newest single, “The Last Goodbye”, just came out yesterday backed by a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes”.

Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince do an excellent job with Lou Reed’s 1969 hit, emphasizing the strung-out vibe behind the love song. The Kills actually recorded the song a couple of years ago but it was never officially released until now. The a-side, “The Last Goodbye”, appeared on Blood Pressures, the duo’s most recent album, which came out in April via Domino Records.
