With more than a month to go before the film’s release, The Decemberists have released their contribution to The Hunger Games’ soundtrack. The Portland band’s “One Engine” is an uncharacteristically fast-paced song guided as usual by Colin Meloy’s verbose vocals.
The Decemberists are just one of 16 mostly alternative artists to appear on the soundtrack. Arcade Fire, Neko Case, Kid Cudi, Glen Hansard, The Low Anthem, and several others also contribute tracks. Taylor Swift gets two songs (one with The Civil Wars) on the album, possibly just to make people feel weird about buying it.
The soundtrack drops March 20 and the film (the first of three based on Suzanne Collins’ science fiction novels) hits theaters March 23. Listen to The Decemberists’ “One Engine” and take a look at the full tracklist below.
