With new musical endeavors from Blur, Rocketjuice and the Moon, and Gorillaz, Damon Albarn has his hands full, but what about Gorillaz's artistic director Jamie Hewlett? The illustrator/designer/animator has announced his own team-up with Swedish vodka moguls ABSOLUT. Hewlett has designed the bottle for ABSOLUT’s upcoming “ABSOLUT bloody London” campaign. The bottle features an illustration of various Londoners “spanning the ages from Dickensian and 18th Century Dandy, through to Pinstripe Gent, 60’s Chick, Ska, Punk and 80’s ‘Casual’”.
Hewlett says of the project: “London has such a fascinating and rich history which has inspired me over the years. For ABSOLUT London I chose to re-create seven iconic characters from different eras who are largely defined by their style as well as their impactful contribution to London’s culture at the time”. The ABSOLUT London bottles go on sale March 1 exclusively at Selfridges in the UK and will go for £20.99. Check out a shot of the bottle above and a look at the full artwork above.
