Listen: The Flaming Lips - "Now I Understand (ft. Erykah Badu, Siri, & Biz Markie)"

Earlier this week Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne started posting clips of several tracks from the band’s upcoming collaboration album. Yesterday Coyne posted the first full song from the album on SoundCloud (for one week only). The track, “Now I Understand”, is the Lips’ team-up with the First Lady of Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu. “Now I Understand” also features a couple other unlikely guest spots from Biz Markie and Siri, the iPhone 4S’ intelligent software assistant.
The song starts with Siri doing her signature beep and then saying: “I don’t understand the moon, the stars, and the sun”. It’s pretty great to imagine Wayne Coyne and Erykah Badu sitting around and saying “the moon, the stars, and the sun” to Siri. Next Badu starts singing: “I don’t understand the moon, the stars, and the sun” in a far more pleasing voice. Meanwhile in the background of the whole thing is Biz Markie in reverse.
Along with the track itself, Coyne wrote: “sound construction piece featuring Lips, Erykah Badu, Siri, and Biz Markie backwards. It’s called ‘Now I Understand’ It’s funny and will be available on SoundCloud for one week only!!! Life is beautiful. Music gets you high”.
In other Flaming Lips collaboration album news, yesterday Coyne tweeted the phrase “possible Phantogram collaboration”, referring to the New York Indie-pop duo. Listen to Coyne, the rest of the Lips, Erykah Badu, Siri, and Biz Markie in reverse on "Now I Understand" below.
