Cee-Lo Green caused a minor stir this New Years Eve during his performance of John Lennon's "Imagine." Green changed "Nothing to kill or die for/ And no religion too," to "Nothing to kill or die for/ And all religion's true." This caused Lennon diehards across the web to cry foul, claiming (rightfully so) that the lyrics change completely alters the late-Beatle's message. One Twitter uses claimed, "I'd change some of the words in a @CeeLoGreen song, but that could only make it better." Ouch.
Today, Green responded to the backlash in a statement that read: "Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys! I was trying to say a world were u could believe what u wanted that’s all." Check out Cee-Lo's performance below.
