Show Review: The Movielife @ Best Buy Theatre 8.26.2011 (setlists, video)

Last Friday, a sold out crowd at Best Buy Theatre got their chance to say goodbye to Long Island pop punk group The Movielife. When it was announced that special guests would open the show, many rumors flew about who it could possible be. Midtown? Glassjaw? The curtains being closed during each band's set up added to the mystery.
At 8:15, the curtains opened and the crowd exploded when they saw Brand New onstage. The group played a short 6-song set but the energy in the crowd made you believe that they were playing a headlining gig. Brand New played mostly material from Your Favorite Weapon and Deja Entendu.
The next band up was reportedly reuniting just for the show. Most rumors went straight to Midtown but everyone cheered when they witnessed Crime In Stereo take the stage. The group played a set filled with fan favorites ("But You Are Vast","Small Skeletal").
When it was time for The Movielife to take the stage one last time there was mixed emotions in the crowd. Some felt sad that one of their favorite bands were saying goodbye while others felt happy at getting the chance to see them for the last (and for some, first) time. Whatever it was, emotions went wild when the Movielife came full force with the track "Walking on Glass".
The band performed a near-perfect set mixed with songs from all of their releases (including the song "Sailor Tattoos" from their spilt with Ex Number Five). When it was time for the band to play their last song "Jamestown",the crowd knew to set it off one more time for one of their favorite bands.
Whether you loved them or hated them, there's no denying the love that many people have for The Movielife. And you can guarantee the band has that same love for their fans. You can check out some vids from the show, as well as setlists for each band, below.
