On May 27th, The Afghan Whigs will play their first show since 1999. The Cincinnati soul rockers will take the stage again at the All Tomorrow's Parties I'll Be Your Mirror Festival at Alexandra Palace in London. For that performance, they will be joined on stage by fellow doom and gloom acts like Slayer, Mogwai, Dirty Three, Melvins, Sleep, Mudhoney, Codiene and Yuck.
Then, on September 22nd, they will head to Asbury Park, New Jersey where Greg Dulli will be curating Saturday of the ATP Festival. Barry Hogan, who founded and has organized all ATP events since 2004, said:
"My wife Deborah adores this band. When we first started dating she would always say we had to get the Afghan Whigs to play for us. I used to love going to see them. They always sounded great, put 110% into their performances… We are truly honored that they chose I’ll Be Your Mirror UK to be their first ever show and Greg curating the next U.S. edition is something we have always dreamed of."
Tickets for the ATP New Jersey go in sale in January. More info here. Check out a live video of "Debonair" from back in the day.
