2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced

Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame revealed this year’s list of inductees this morning. The elusive spots went to Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, The Faces/The Small Faces, and Laura Nyro, and Freddie King.

As solid as that list is, the Hall had to snub some other big-name nominees. The lost candidates this year were the Cure, Heart, Eric B. & Rakim, War, Donna Summer, the Spinners, Rufus with Chaka Khan, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

The Hall also awarded Glyn Johns, Tom Dowd, and Cosimo Matassa with the Award for Musical Excellence, and Don Kirsher with the Ahmet Ertegun Award. The induction ceremony will take place on April 14 in Cleveland.
