Zappa Family Trust to release Captain Beefheart's lost 'Bat Chain Puller' album

Just a year after his death, Captain Beefheart is back in the news with an upcoming release. Barfko-Swill (the imprint of the Zappa Family Trust) will release a long-lost Beefheart album entitled Bat Chain Puller on January 15.

Bat Chain Puller was recorded in 1976 and produced by Beefheart friend and collaborator Frank Zappa. After a legal dispute, however, the album was never released. Much of the album was rerecorded and released on Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) in 1978.

The original 12 tracks have circulated as a bootleg for years, but now they will have an official release with three bonus songs. Check out a live performance of the title track below.
