A little over two months after first arriving at Zuccotti Park, Occupy Wall Street is getting its own benefit album. Various famous Occupy Musicians members are recording original tracks for Occupy This Album. The project is being produced by Jason Samel and should hit stores (or maybe just anarchist book fairs) sometime this winter. Earnings from the album will be donated to various Occupy movements through the Alliance for Global Justice.
So far Yo La Tengo, Devo, Jackson Browne, David Crosby and Graham Nash, Ladytron, Third Eye Blind, Lloyd Cole, the Guthrie family, Lucinda Williams, DJ Logic, Warren Haynes, Toots and the Maytals, Mike Limbaud, Aeroplane Pageant, Michael Moore (yes, that Michael Moore), and the OWS drummers have all agreed to contribute tracks. In order to attract fans stuck in 1998, the only track that’s been released so far is Third Eye Blind’s obnoxious “If There Ever Was A Time”. Listen to the track below if you feel so compelled.
