Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' debuts at number one

It’s been just over a week now since Coldplay’s new album, Mylo Xyloto hit stores via Parlophone Records, and it is, unsurprisingly, a smash-hit. Mylo (the band’s fifth album) is quite firmly at the top of the Billboard album chart and has been since its release on the 24th. The album reached 458,250 sold in its first week, towering over second and third place Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble, both with fewer than 200,000 sold.
Critically, however, the album is not doing so great, getting a 61% from Metacritic, a three and a half stars from Rolling Stone and a seven out of ten from Spin. Chris Martin is probably doing OK with that, however, since this is Coldplay’s third album to debut at number one on the Billboard chart. Mylo’s two singles, “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” and “Paradise” opened at 15 and 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively. Give both those tracks a listen below.
