Halloween Events This Weekend

It's almost Halloween which means costumes, candy and some great live music. Plenty of shows will be in the area this weekend for your delight. Be warned: those "weird skeleton dudes" dancing in the pit might be real skeletons. And if you don't wanna dance your butt off, there's always the annual NYC Halloween Parade.

 

Friday October 28th

Rival Schools, Hostage Calm, Balance & Composure - Mexicali Live - 6PM - Buy Tickets

Rival Schools have had a great year so far with the release of their highly anticipated album Pedals. Catch them alongside two of the scene's rising bands: Hostage Calm and Balance & Composure.

 


The Pixies & Surfer Blood - Asbury Park Convention Hall - 7PM - Buy Tickets

Over the past couple of years The Pixies have celebrated the 20th anniversary of Doolittle by touring throughout the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Their current Doolittle "Lost Cities" US tour finds them playing cities that they've overlooked on recent tours. Indie rockers Surfer Blood will also perform at the show.



Saturday October 29th


Melt Banana & others - Santos Party House - 7PM - Buy Tickets

Japanese noise punk group Melt Banana are set to blow the roof off Santos Party House. You may have seen them open for bands like Mr. Bungle, Tool and Melvins over their 20 year career. The group's last release was 2009's Melt-Banana Lite Live ver 0.0.

 

Pop Punk's Not Dead Tour - Starland Ballroom - 6PM - Buy Tickets

One of the year's most anticipated tours makes its way to Starland Ballroom. The Pop Punk's Not Dead tour features a dream-line up that features influential pop punkers New Found Glory and up-and-comers such as Man Overboard and This Time Next Year. The Wonder Years and Set Your Goals round out this blockbuster package.

 


Gardensk8 Art Show & Fundraiser Show - Gardensk8 - 6PM - $5 donation

NJ skatepark Gardensk8 was unfortunately damaged severely during Hurricane Irene. The skatepark is set to open their doors for the first time since the hurricane by throwing on an art show/fundraiser. Money collected will go towards the cost of fixing up the park. There will be silent auctions as well as hip hop performances throughout the day. MTV2's Sucker Free Sundays will also be there to film the event.

 

Inspecter 7 - The Wonder Bar - 7PM - $10 - 21+

Old school NJ ska band Inspecter 7 are back! The band will headline a sweet Halloween party at Asbury Park's Wonder Bar. No Redeeming Social Value, TV Tramps, 45 Adapters are also set to perform. Come in costume!!

 


Ziggy Marley - The Stone Pony - 7PM - Buy Tickets

Legendary reggae artist Ziggy Marley has been making music since he was a kid as part of Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers. The five-time Grammy award winner recently released his fourth studio album Wild and Free this past June. Leon Mobley & Loose Fit are set to open.

 

Glenn Danzig - Hammerstein Ballroom - 6PM - Buy Tickets

Danzig is set to bring the Danzig Legacy concert to Hammerstein Ballroom. What is the Danzig Legacy concert,you ask? A concert which features Glenn performing sets of Samhain, Danzig and The Misfits songs. Former Misfits guitarist Wolfgang Von Frankenstein will join him for the Misfits set.


Monday October 31st - Halloween

(HED) P.E., Slaine and others - Mexicali Live - 6PM - Buy Tickets

Huntington Beach punk rockers Hed P.E. will certainly put on quite a show on Halloween. The band released their latest album Truth Rising last year and have been on the road ever since touring with acts such as Suicidal Tendencies and Death Before Dishonor. The band is currently on the road with Slaine.

 

The Misfits - BB Kings Blues Club & Grill - 6PM - Buy Tickets

The Misfits are awesome. Halloween is awesome. Seeing The Misfits perform on Halloween is guaranteed to be chock - full of awesomeness! The NJ punk legends released a brand new album entitled The Devil's Rain earlier this month. JuiceheaD are also set to perform.



Queensrÿche - Highline Ballroom - 7PM - Buy Tickets

Queensryche have been celebrating 30 years as a band with a new record (Dedicated To Chaos) and extensive touring. Since their inception back in 1981,the band has sold over 20 million copies worldwide (including platinum albums Operation: Mindcrime, Empire and Promised Land). The band is currently writing material for the follow-up to Dedicated To Chaos.

 

World Inferno/Friendship Society & Melt Banana - Union Transfer - 7:30PM - Buy Tickets

Every Halloween, World Inferno/Friendship Society throw on one of the craziest shows of the year (Hallowmas). This year will be no different. Melt Banana are set to open the show which makes things even more sweeter. W.I.F.S. released their latest album The Anarchy and the Ecstasy via Chunksaah Records.
