Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore Announce Divorce

Sonic Youth's power couple, Thurson Moore and Kim Gordon, announced today that they are splitting up after 27 years of marriage. In a statement released by Matador Records, a rep said:

"Musicians Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, married in 1984, are announcing they have separated. Sonic Youth, with both Kim and Thurston involved, will proceed with its South American tour dates in November. Plans beyond that tour are uncertain. The couple has requested respect for their personal privacy and does not wish to issue further comment."

This comes as a shock, as the couple always seemed to have a rock solid relationship. No word yet on how their split will affect the future of Sonic Youth, however the band does have 5 dates planned for this Fall in South America.
