Yesterday Excess DB revealed that Humble Beginnings would be playing a reunion show along with Lanemeyer at Hoboken's Maxwell's Friday, November 19th. Now the group has confirmed another reunion show set to take place the very next night Saturday, November 20th at New Brunswick's Court Tavern. An official press release, which includes quotes from the bands, regarding The Court Tavern date can be found below.
Legendary NJ pop-punk bands, Humble Beginnings and Lanemeyer, have announced the second show of their reunion weekend. They will bring it back to 1999 at The Court Tavern in New Brunswick, NJ on Saturday, November 20th at 10pm. One special guest is yet to be announced. There is no advance ticketing available and the show will certainly sell out so get on line early.
Fans are not the only ones about to feel the nostalgia as Jeremy Hernandez of Humble Beginnings says, "We couldn't be more stoked to revisit a time in our lives that was so special. We're looking forward to having a lot of fun at these shows with everyone and sharing the stage with Lanemeyer."
The show rounds out a weekend following a performance at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ on Friday, November 19th and reckons the old school with Mike Doyle of Lanemeyer noting, "...back in the late 90s this was the typical Friday and Saturday night. Bands didn't have the Internet to make them who they were but used printed flyers, local zines, and word-of-mouth to get kids to come listen to what they had to say."
Albeit, the times have changed with this very news comes to you via the almighty and all-knowing interweb. The atmosphere at these shows, however, will be nothing short of the reckless teenage energy that fueled one of best and biggest local scenes in the country.
The bands are thankful for the fact that they have the opportunity to revisit the good old days. "The fact that we get to relive this with [Humble] almost a decade later is surreal," says Doyle. "People who show up to this will be there for the nostalgia of what it meant to love music."
Open your shoeboxes and dig out your demo tapes, because you've got some serious piling-on and singalong'ing to do. Maybe bleach your hair and write "NJPP" on your knuckles, too.
