Band Spotlight: Automatic Loveletter

Hailing from Tampa, Automatic Loveletter is a band that is simply "The Next Big Thing". Led by lead singer Juliet Simms, the band formed in 2007 and has been making a name for themselves ever since. Their major label debut Truth or Dare recently came out this past June. The band is set to go on tour with Valencia next month. I had a chance to speak with Simms about recording their new album and the band's current single "Heart Song".

1) The band just released their major label debut album this past June. How excited is everybody about finally putting it out?
Thrilled! Beyond excited..like a horny little 15 year old boy excited! Tmi?

2) How was the recording process for the album?
Great! Josh Abraham is great producer with a team of talented musicians and people! We were an instantaneous family and force.

3) How was it working with producer Josh Abraham(Pink,Slayer,30 Seconds To Mars)?
Again, so awesome! Everyday was a new learning experience and I really loved how my voice was heard when I had ideas. Also three of the songs were written while recording so I definitely got inspired.

4) What kind of music did the band listen to while recording the album?
I was listening to One Republic, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Ben Folds,Mew,Silverson Pickups,Manchester Orchestra, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Third Eye Blind, Glen Hansard, Fiona Apple, The Fire Theft..to name a few

5) The first single "Heart Song" is a very catchy tune. What inspired you to write that song?
Actually, it was my brothers band WinWinWinter that inspired me. I also LOVE southern rock and I wanted to write a song with that sorta feel to it.

6) What was the inspiration for the song's music video?
The song was..just some good ol' gritty dirty rock'n roll.

7) Do you know what the next single is going to be?
I THINK I have an idea..but I dont want to say in case it changes:) there's a couple that are all potential singles.

8) The band just finished playing this years Warped Tour. What was that experience like?
It gave you an idea of how Bill Murray felt in Groundhog Day. Throw that in with Almost Famous and you got yourself Warped Tour..it was the summer of my life:)

9) Speaking of tours,the band will be on tour with Valencia this October. How excited is everybody about that?
Thrilled!! Its gonna feel weird playing inside though..got used to 100 degree heat and sweating my butt off. We're stoked for A/C haha.

10) What's next for Automatic Loveletter after the tour?
More touring..going out with The Graduate:)
