The Feelies Still Know How To Rock

The Feelies are an alternative rock band from Haledon, New Jersey. They formed in 1976, disbanded in 1992 and reformed in 2008. They frequently played at Maxwell’s, a live music venue and bar restaurant in Hoboken in the 1980's. In 2008, The Feelies regrouped and began playing music again - and tickets are still available for all three shows of their upcoming shows: Friday (7/02), Saturday (7/03), and Sunday (7/04). Cited by R.E.M. as a major influence, their musical impact on the indie rock scene was significant, even to this day. An excerpt of a concert review from their November 23rd, 2009 show at Maxwells in Hoboken, New Jersey and videos below. Read the full review by Jim Testa here.
"Few bands get to enjoy a meaningful second act in their careers; The Feelies are on their third, having first captured the imaginations ofcritics and fans as part of the late-’70s New York City punk-rock scene with the adrenaline-rush brilliance of their debut album of 1980,"Crazy Rhythms." Rolling Stone Magazine hailed it as one of "The Top100 Most Important Albums of the Eighties," and groups like R.E.M. have claimed the Feelies as a major influence." [J. Testa - The Star Ledger]

A friend brought me to one of their shows at Maxwell's about a year back. They were awesome live, but can't really get into their recordings. Feel like they're trying pretty hard to be VU and not even the good VU they really poppy older VU.
The Feelies are the shit, nuff said.
Thanks for quoting my review. I feel just like Robert Christgau!
