Man Overboard and Transit sign to Rise Records

Rise Records have declared this week "WTF week" because of the many unexpected signings that will be announced. Clearly nobody knew that two of their signings are pop-punks rising bands: NJ's Man Overboard and Boston's Transit. Press releases for both signings can be seen below.

Greetings. Here’s a big update from the Transit camp.

We are proud to announce we have signed to Rise Records.

We know what you’re thinking... our music doesn’t really fit in with the "Rise Sound". So yes, we will be completely changing our style of music to fit in with this new label. More breakdowns, more screaming, some makeup, and much better hairstyles. Just you wait and see.

But seriously...we’re NOT doing that. Rise is a label that we’re very excited to be working with, since in reality there is no "Rise Sound" and they have always been a diverse label. They are here to support Transit for what we are, and what we do. We are stoked to be on the same roster as rad bands like Piebald and This Is Hell, as well as our friends in Man Overboard who also just signed with Rise . We’re happy and ready for the future.

In other news! We’ve been trapped in Jesse Cannon’s studio out here in Union City, NJ working on a new EP called Something Left Behind. Were super stoked on the songs and how everything is coming out. Can’t wait to show you. It features three brand new mellow tracks, as well as an acoustic rendition of one song off every previous release we’ve put out. Maybe even a little bonus something, something. It will be out in February 22nd on Mightier Than Sword Records. All info, a tracklisting, and a free download of our acoustic version of "Please Head North: can be found here: mtsrecords.com/blog.

Also, we will be playing some dates with Less Than Jake, Off With Their Heads, and the Supervillians in January. Check out some dates here:

Less Than Jake, The Supervillians, Off With Their Heads, Transit
1/26 Poughkeepsie, NY @ The Chance
1/27 Baltimore, MD @ Sonar
1/29 Sayreville, NJ @ Starland Ballroom
1/30 Philadelphia, PA @ Trocadero

Before that will be a quick string of dates with This Time Next Year and Daytrader. Can’t wait for both of those.

Other than all that, we’re gearing up to head over to Europe with our brothers in Man Overboard for a threeish week run with All Or Nothing, December 6-26. Hope to see you at some shows. More news soon!

Love,

Transit

Man Overboard is pleased to announce our signing to Rise Records. We are excited to join the roster, along with Transit, Piebald, This Is Hell and a few other great bands they will be announcing this week. It was only a year ago that we signed with Run For Cover and released the Dahlia EP, Noise From Upstairs EP and our debut full-length, Real Talk. We have already started to write our sophomore LP that will see a 2011 release on both Rise AND Run For Cover Records. Previous to that new LP we will release a yet-to-be-titled compilation LP on Run For Cover that features Dahlia, Noise From Upstairs, Real Talk B-Sides, a Promise Ring cover and two brand new songs as well as a new 7" on Rise that has yet to be titled.

We pride ourselves on having a relentless work ethic and are proud to be a part of Rise's roster. Matthew, Craig and Sean all value their position at the label as a lifestyle and not just a job. We have always worked with people who are going to constantly push themselves to do better and great things and these guys have proven to do just that.

2011 will prove to be our busiest year to date as we already have several releases and world-wide touring coming up. We rounded out 2010 by playing four US dates with H2O before heading to the UK and Europe with our buds Transit and All Or Nothing. We are happy to have Basement, Smile & Burn and Starters, some of our Lost Tape Collective and City Of Gold label mates out with us for a few of those days. We will celebrate what has been the best year of our lives with the Lost Tape Collective holiday show on December 30th in Philadelphia at the First Unitarian Church with Fireworks, Balance & Composure, Vinnie Caruana (of The Movielife), Transit and Hostage Calm. See below for all tour dates!

Thank you for an amazing 2010, we could not be more excited for next year.

Love,

Man Overboard
