Vampire Weekend (sort of) working on a new album. Drawing inspiration from all the right places.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Vampire Weekend revealed that they have already started writing for their new record. To paraphrase Ezra, even though VP haven't actually recorded anything yet they have been writing and ideas are floating around. However, Koenig did mention that they will most likely need some time off after their tour cycle for Contra ends.

So you might be wondering what type of "ideas are floating around"? Well, as of late, the ivy league quartet apparently have a slight fixation on failed big-budget comedies. Koenig name checks The Love Guru, The Rocker and the exception, Bride Wars. Ezra goes on to say "Any time you interact with a piece of art — whether it's something that goes on to be your favorite or something that maybe you find issue with — still, that's going to help you think about the art you want to make." Feel free to read full interview over at MTV.
