Interview: Title Fight
Monday, November 22, 2010 at 9:55 AM
Title Fight are a band that believe in bringing the punk back into pop-punk. The Kingston, PA group's music has been spreading faster than they can even fathom. Going from playing to a handful of kids in their hometown less then two years ago to opening for New Found Glory, Four Years Strong and many other big names has brought them the attention they so very well deserve. TF are currently on the road with Senses Fail & Bayside, which will lead them to Starland Ballroom this Wednesday, November 24th. Tickets are still available and can be picked up here. To find out about how the road has been treating them, details about their forth coming album and what other bands you should be checking out, have a look at our interview with Title Fight below.
You guys have been on the road with Senses Fail & Bayside for quite awhile now, how have the dates been going?
The shows are the biggest we've ever played. The biggest venues, the most kids, etc. It is a really new experience to us. The crowds seem to at least be interested in us but it is completely different than what we have done for our entire career. Other than that though, the people on the tour are nice and welcoming so that is cool.
What would you say is your favorite place to stop on tour?
I think our favorite place to play would either be Philadelphia or Richmond. Those are both places that we played on our first tour and they have always been really receptive to us. We have made a lot of friend over the years there and they always come out and show us a good time. I'd say our favorite place to visit would be Carpinteria, CA.
I hear you're set to head into the studio after this run. Have you been playing any new songs live?
We play 1 new song called "Dreamcatchers" in the set. We recently put the song out on a compilation called America's Hardcore on Triple B Records out of Boston. The comp just came out.
Any idea on when the new record will be out? Do you know if it'll be a LP, EP, 7", etc.?
We're just shooting for summer 2011. It's going to be a LP.
Do you know where and with who you'll be recording with?
We are going to be recording at Studio 4 in Philadelphia. We are working with a producer for the first time but I don't know if we can reveal the information yet but it will be out real soon.
What's the best part about being in Title Fight?
I just enjoy touring with my friends. We were friends before we were in Title Fight and that is the most important part of being in a band to us. We just try to have fun and do what we want.
What's the biggest drawback of being in a full-time band?
Being away from home all the time is a little rough. Other than that though, I really don't have a problem with much. I don't mind sleeping on floors or not showering, that's all fun to me.
Any words of advice for young bands trying to build up a following in the way you guys have?
Do it for the right reasons. We didn't start for any other fact that we were friends that wanted to play music. We never tried to please anyone or "get big" we just did what felt right and it all worked out in the end.
Lastly, any up and coming bands you think people should check out?
Check out the roster of Run For Cover records like Tigers Jaw, check out all the bands from Wilkes-Barre like Dead End Path, War Hungry, and United Youth, go check out a band on tour in your town who you don't know who they are. And Balance and Composure who are on the tour with us they are great.
