Thursday @ Bowery Ballroom 9.20.09

Thursday

Thursday made a stop at what's probably New York City's best mid-size rock club, Bowery Ballroom. The date was apart of their Common Existence tour, which they just kicked off two nights before. The tour actually finishes back at Bowery Ballroom October 25th, where they will be performing Full Collapse in its entirety. That date will also include the newly reunited Far.

Early into their set Geoff remarked how much more fun he was already having on this tour, compared to the Taste of Chaos tour, which the group headlined this past spring. Though touring in support of Common Existence, Thursday's set took songs from almost all the albums in their discography. They also played "Paris In Flames" for the first time in a long time, Geoff explained.

It's hard to find a band that has more energy in their live performance and Thursday's fanbase is just the same. Trying to take photos while making sure to keep balance and being crushed by constant crowd surfers was not the easiest task, but definitely an enjoyable one. Even I had to stop taking photos to sing along to the songs that were the soundtrack to my youth.

Throughout the set Geoff made statements against the "War on Terror", while at the same time preaching positivity and urging the crowd to let their voice be heard. To paraphrase Geoff, "I love this country, and one of the things I love most is the willingness of Americans to fight against something they know is wrong". Well said.

Thursday's set included (not in order/not full set list), For The Workforce Drowning, The Other side of the Crash, Understanding In A Car Crash, Paris In Flames, Division Street, Signals Over The Airwaves, Autobiography of a Nation, Friends in the Armed Forces, Beyond the Visable Spectrum and Jet Black New Year, which they ended with.

Haven't seen Thursday in such a long time. That needs to change! Too bad their next Bowery date is already sold out. :-(
