Girls & Real Estate @ Maxwell's 11.2.09

Girls kicked off their tour with New Jersey's Real Estate last night at Maxwell's in Hoboken. The group just released their debut LP entitled Album on Matador Records this past September. It's hard to believe a band that just put out their first LP would be able to sell out Maxwell's, especially being from the other side of the country, but last night that was exactly the case for Girls. The quartet opened their set with the albums second track Laura and continued to plow through most of their latest album flawlessly. The group had a guitarist filling in due to their last one "quitting" a few weeks before earlier. Overall I'd say that after weeks of anticipation for this show, Christopher Owen's and Co. did not disappoint. My only concern is the wait I'll have to endure until Girls next record comes out, considering I've already been playing their latest one non-stop for the past month or so.
